- What is the purpose of the Webelos Leadership Award?
The Tay House (Troop 19) Webelos Leadership Award (“Award”) is designed to bridge the gap between Cub Scouts and the Scouting program. Webelos marks the stage where youth begin taking on leadership roles in their events. This award celebrates their growth in leadership and responsibility.
- Who is eligible for the Award?
Any registered Webelos Scout within the High Falls District can apply for the award.
- What is the selection process?
The award is selected by Troop 19's youth leaders. Adult leaders do not have a vote in this decision, ensuring that the selection process is entirely youth-led.
- What are the criteria for selection?
Webelos Scouts who demonstrate significant growth as they take on leadership responsibilities. We look at the reflection on both successes and challenges. What was discussed after the conclusion of the event? Did the Webelo discuss what went well, areas for improvement, and what was learned from both the successes and failures of the event?
- What is the significance of the Award?
This award recognizes the hard work and leadership development of Webelos Scouts. It represents Tay House Troop 19’s commitment to supporting the entire Scouting community, independent of future troop membership. The award also encourages Scouts to attend Summer Camp, fostering continued growth in Scouting.
- Why Webelos Scouts?
The Webelos Leadership Award is designed to encourage Webelos Scouts as they take their final steps toward achieving the Arrow of Light. This award is intended to motivate them without detracting from the prestige of the Arrow of Light.
