Winter Equipment List
Required Equipment
- Hiking Pack (large enough to hold everything you're bringing)
- Ground Cloth (plastic waterproof material)
- Foam Sleeping Pad or Air Mattress
- Sleeping Bag (goose down or polyester filled - rated for outdoor camping)
- Flashlight (with extra batteries)
- Pocket knife
- Mess kit & Eating Utensils (cup, bowl, plate, spoon, fork - suitable for hot foods)
- Toilet Articles (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, towel)
- Mess kit (cup, bowl, spoon - minimum)
- Rain gear (waterproof coat & pants or poncho)
- Canteen or water bottle
- Compass
- Scout Handbook (Second Class scouts and below)
Clothing
- 3-4 Pairs of socks (light breathable - for under the wool pairs)
- 3-4 Pairs of heavy Wool Socks
- 3-4 Changes of Underwear
- 1 Pair of Long Underwear (shirt and pants)
- 3-4 Pairs of Pants
- 1 Pair of snow/ski pants (waterproof-Gore Tex material)
- 2-3 Hats (something warm to cover your ears)
- 3-4 Pairs of heavy warm Gloves (insulated, waterproof, or rubber material)
- 1 Heavy Wool Sweater
- 1-2 Heavy Sweatshirts
- 1-2 Long-sleeve Shirts (flannel, turtlenecks, wool)
- 1-2 Heavy Coats (snow/ski jacket, winter-style - outershell needs to be waterproof)
- 1-2 Pairs insulated snow boots (12-14" high, rubber or waterproof material)
- DO NOT BRING sneakers, ankle high hiking boots, combat boots, or tan leather work boots.

Important
Bring a boxed lunch for Friday's dinner. Only bring enough food for that that one meal, the remaining meals will be provided by the troop or patrols.
